Cormorant is a village of about 20 in Cormorant Township, which has a population of 1,039, in Becker County. It is located in the northwest area of the central part of Minnesota.
According to Duke’s owner David Rick, Duke was first elected by write-in two years ago. He easily defeated Richard Sherbrook, owner of the Cormorant Store
Each person wishing to vote must pay $1.00 to cast a vote.
Duke guards the town and happily greets visitors to the village. His image appears on billboards on the edge of town.
He receives a salary of a year’s supply of kibbles, donated by a pet food store.
