Mammoth Spring, Ark. — A spectacular traffic accident involving a boat trailer and car took place here at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4.
Mammoth Spring Police Chief Mike Davis said traffic was tied up for several hours by the mishap.
Chief Davis said a boat riding on a trailer was travelling southbound on U.S. Highway 63 when the boat came loose after hitting construction material and hit the northbound car driven by Arthur D. Jones, 39, of Holden, Mo. Chief Davis said Jones had to be extricated from his vehicle.
The accident occurred the construction zone in front of FNBC Bank. Jones, who was driving a ’08 Mazda CX9 passenger car, according to police was airlifted from the scene to Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo., with report of serious injury. Jones’ condition was not available Monday.
The boat was pulled by a ’17 Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by Gary Dinsdale, 61, of Bradenton, Florida. It was traveling southbound when the accident occurred.
